Gary was highly receptive to his creative staff’s input.  This and the success of previous tribal art exhibits encouraged Bob Williams to suggest a foray into the jungles of New Guinea to create a follow-up show. Bob virtually planned and executed this mission single-handedly.

Again, the seventh floor, with it’s central isle and lighting proved to be the ideal gallery .
As the nation’s tastes matured Macy’s seized the opportunity to provide a more sophisticated clientele with unique items that fit well in many of the grand victorian homes in the city and outlying areas. Gary was a prime proponent of the Department of Interior Design that was established on the seventh floor in San Francisco.
It was not unusual for this exclusive service to send a client shopping in Europe, supervised by a senior designer. Celebrities and socialites filled the client list.
